What is Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy explores your feelings, thoughts and behaviours that are distressing you and to work towards changing these. It can be used by people with mental health conditions, and it can also be used by people who want to understand themselves better.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a method of treatment for psychological disorders, that takes a practical, task-based approach to solving problems.
It is designed to help change negative thoughts and behaviours, by providing more positive and fulfilling solutions.
The focus of CBT is to address symptoms while they are present, and to learn skills and techniques that can be used in the ongoing improvement of mental health.

Person-Centred Approach to Counselling

Person-centered therapy uses a non-authoritative approach that allows clients to take more of a lead in discussions so that, in the process, they will discover their own solutions.
The therapist acts as a compassionate facilitator, listening without judgment and acknowledging the client’s experience without moving the conversation in another direction.
The therapist is there to encourage and support the client and to guide the therapeutic process without interrupting or interfering with the client’s process of self-discovery.
